mauro cuppone is an italian artist. with the burial of the avant-gardes, he focuses on the aesthetic and conceptual value of contradiction: the only way to acknowledge the re-cognition of a reality without past or future. through visual short circuits in which words and images carry the same value and words bring the consistency of objects, death, ironically, becomes the extreme metaphor (to be and not to be) to re-create a timeless contemporaneity: an eternal living death.
